How to Wear Rudraksha Correctly

Follow these simple guidelines to choose, clean, wear, and maintain your authentic Rudraksha beads for maximum spiritual benefits.

Wearing Rudraksha beads
01. Choose the Right Mukhi

Each Rudraksha bead has a specific number of faces (Mukhis). Choose the bead that aligns with your specific goals:

1 Mukhi: Shiva — For focus, clarity, and supreme consciousness.
5 Mukhi: Kalagni Rudra — For general health, mental peace, and stress relief.
7 Mukhi: Goddess Lakshmi — For wealth, business success, and prosperity.
8 Mukhi: Lord Ganesha — For removing obstacles and ensuring success.

02. Simple Purification (Shuddhi)

While Mahakaal Adhyatam Kendra beads are pre-energised before dispatch, performing this simple ritual on the first morning creates a personal bond:

  1. Wash the bead gently with raw milk and then with clean water or Gangajal.
  2. Apply a small dot of sandalwood chandan paste on the bead.
  3. Light an incense stick or ghee lamp in your puja area.
  4. Hold the Rudraksha in your right hand, chant “Om Namah Shivaya” 11 times with closed eyes, and wear it immediately.
03. Simple Rules of Wearing

To keep the energy pure and active, follow these daily rules:

  • Skin Touch: Try to wear the Rudraksha touching your body skin rather than over clothing.
  • Avoid Impurities: Do not wear your Rudraksha while eating non-vegetarian food or drinking alcohol.
  • Remove at Night: Remove the bead/mala before sleeping. Place it on a clean cloth or in your home temple.
  • Avoid Certain Places: Do not wear it during funeral ceremonies, hospital visits, or child delivery rooms.

04. Cleaning and Maintenance

Rudraksha beads are strong but natural. Maintenance keeps them fresh:

  • Monthly Cleaning: Brush the bead gently with a soft toothbrush in warm water to clear dust from lines. Dry completely.
  • Oiling: Apply a drop of sandalwood oil or sesame oil to the dry bead. This prevents cracking and keeps the color rich.
  • Restringing: If the wearing thread gets worn out, restring it in strong red cotton or black thread.
